The Doctor went all Shakespeare on her, but she rather liked it. At least she knew he was in reach. She hesitated right at the threshold, where twilight turned into the blackest ink just five steps into the mine, and waited for the Doctor. At his question she laughed.
"Only about tripping onto a pickax, Doctor." She answered him with some cheek, trying to see into the murk. "It's black as the inside of a boot. Where is your torch? . . .hey. . .wait a minute, Doctor, don't . . . ! Look here, do you see?" Her eyes were adjusting, irises growing until her pupil was almost entirely black. Then a hint of green appeared in her vision, and deepened in a breath. "Can you see that Doctor? It's glowing in here." She could see better now the tunnel, so primitively built it really did look like a gullet of rock. At the floor of the cave there were deeper, brighter streaks next to gouges that razed even over projections of rocks on the floor of the cave that had been turned into small table lands of stone. She knelt to feel what it was.
"What is it do you think?"

"See what-" He asked when she cut him off with.
"Can you see that Doctor? It's glowing in here."
"Oh that! Yes I see that. Strange. I wonder how many mines actually glow? Well obviously not that many. Unless this mine has phosphorescent minerals embedded into it... however I don't think they'd glow green." The Doctor adjusted his hat in thought.

"I don't know. Strange isn't it? Me not knowing something." He laughed, "However in all seriousness it makes me wonder about if this is anything like what my third incarnation had to deal with. All those giant green glowing maggots."

She grinned at his looming green self and stood, brushing her hands off. The glow clings to moss that is both crumbly and in some places a bit gooey. She contemplates wiping her hands off on the Doctor's coat which always seemed miraculously clean, but she does not. She stands, looking up his beaky nose and feeling quite fond of him. "Earth is my specialty, Doctor. If this glowing moss is from earth, then it needs calcium to grow on. Great gobs of it." Her voice dropped to a conspiratorial whisper. "Maybe the gift horses shed their bones on the rocks." She speculated ominously.
