Apprehensively, Jack watched John ask for a stronger alcohol. He didn't like seeing the other man extremely drunk. John couldn't die and come back to life like he could. One day he would have one drop too much and fall out of existence... but Jack had doubts that John would listen to him, so he stayed quiet.
This was not going to plan. Sure, John was supposed to have a drink, but he was supposed to be having fun. He was supposed to be occupied. Now he was suggesting that Jack went out and got ten numbers? Challenge accepted, but this would not make John happier at all. In fact, this would probably make things worse.
Maybe if he sees how fun this is, he'll join me, Jack thought sadly, standing. He usually follows me. Perhaps this time?
Before walking away, he gave John a final look, silently asking him to follow. He knew the other would probably prefer watching, but Jack felt bad walking away. He had walked away far too many times before. He sighed and turned, walking confidently into the middle of the floor. At about a meter away, he called back over his shoulder.
"Animals don't talk," he stated seriously, before approaching his first, well, victim.
An overweight blonde girl clad in pink sequins dancing awkwardly on the edge of the dance floor. It took Jack no less than a cheeky smile to have her waving her number in his face. He accepted the slip of paper and put it in his pocket. That was much too easy. 1
Shortly afterwards, while he was chatting to an extremely underweight girl, Jack received his second number. The small Asian girl was kind enough to slip it into his pocket for him, patting him on the behind while doing so. Not wanting to be left out, the underweight girl entered her number into his phone. 2/3
Jack continued wandering around the bar, not speaking to anyone. Basically, he was doing a victory lap, but for others outside of his head, they would describe it as showing off, selling the goods. The jacket was a tad bit weird for some of the patrons, but then he'd pull it back, showing the slim curves of his body.
A collective sigh ran between a table of girls as he walked past. They seemed shy at first, but after Jack accepted the first phone number, the other girls gathered the courage to offer theirs. The first girl sent them a withering look. How dare they steal my man? Jack nodded in thanks and wandered away again. 4/5/6/7
At this stage, Jack turned to look at John, seeing whether or not he had decided to follow. Four numbers hung limply from his hand, waiting to be placed in Jack's pockets.
