Post the music that inspires you to write for your character, anything and everything goes as long as it falls within the site rules. You can post orchestral music, vocals, anything you like that makes your imagination fly when you get the itch to write for your character. And feel free to make comments on the music others post.
I will get us started with a piece of music I have been listening to as I started writing for Issildia.

At about 2:20 is where I start this.....It just makes writing Ianto seem so much easier...It also reminds me of Ianto and Jack as a couple.....Physically mostly....This is Unreadable Communications by Curve.
Then this one:
Which to me is really the mental aspect of their relationship and is really emotional and I think that Ianto is really emotional and passionate.
Then in general a lot of Chris Cornell and David Bowie inspires me

I love those that your posted, there was a smooth energy to the first one that is very Ianto.
I forgot to add on my first post that I chose that piece of music because it toys with my concept of Issildia being initially very devoted to the purpose Torchwood has given her in the mission to capture the Doctor. But as her life continues there of course will be that struggle she faces with rebelling against the will of her masters and finding her own sense of purpose.
My second selection I listened to while writing my post where Issildia approaches the Eighth Doctor amid the Victorian ball. At this point we will see her turn from this goal driven machine to someone with actual thoughts of her own and perhaps enjoyment for a simple conversation.
"Time dances whirling past, I gaze through the looking glass and feel just beyond my grasp is heaven"
I feel that Issildia believes that happiness is not only beyond her but something that she has no right to ever touch. That I suppose is the most tragic part of her persona.

(Just a quick post, coursework city in my life. )Nice thread, my kind of thread. I use music most of the time to help me write but I can't define a character quite to just one song anymore, it's mostly a situation. For example, I'll pick a heavy fast tune if I'm writing a fight scene etc. However, saying that, I can get pretty close to one son with this character. I'm sure I've posted this in another thread, but just incase, make sure your volume isn't up too loud when you play this one. This one is pretty much perfect for The Mentalist. I can relate most lines with him and his life, all his ups and downs. It's pretty perfect and the screams just seem to make it for me. Everything just seems to fit. I don't know if others (outside of my mind) can see how it fits, but I hope it does...

Oh I love that song ^^ Nice one.
And same I always listen to music that is applied to the situiation, nothing heavily in general for Issildia primarily since she is a dynamic character that will face a number of metamorphoses during her life.
And here is my next post for her as I was listening to it during my last post for her. Like I mentioned before, I like to think Issildia is deeply set in the belief that she will never have personal happiness since it has been drilled into her so well that she is naught up a tool of the Institute.
"All I wanna do Is trade this life for something new Holding on to what I haven't got."

I'm not sure why it reminds me of Rio. Maybe because of the dreamy sound of it, and the way he always sees the beauty in the world instead of focusing on the negative. I suppose it's the simple childish innocence.
Don't know, but it fits him in an absurd way maybe only I can see. xD
p.s. this thread inspired me to go through every song on my ipod until I could find a song. :l I still have to find one for Susan and Six. >:C
p.p.s. I can see Six dancing to 'I'm Too Sexy'. am I creeper or what?[/size]

Nice song there. How do you find all those good track though? They're like hidden treasure to me!
Don't even know why I was listening to this while I wrote my last post. Doesn't really relate at all! But I love it. Michael Buble is not my normal listening habit, but this one is so good...
"I don't want to take you dancing, when you're dancing with the world."
Hehe, good stuff.

lol that is a catchy song.
And I find most of my music by searching either "Two Steps from Hell, Immediate Music, X-Ray Dog, Groove Addicts, Epic Sore" These are all groups that conduct music for movie trailers primarily.

Ooh, nice, thanks for those names. I'll remember to look them up.
Song I used for my last post. ;D Awesome song, I always use this kind during fight scenes/start of them. Fast(-ish) dance/rock tracks. And they have to be up LOUD.
"It's a final call for the setting sun, when they get closer..."
Hehe, Pendulum and the Prodigy sum up the Thyrolians quite well.

Perfect song for Gunman and Douglas. Sadly, in this board though, Douglas can't sing. But let's have Dave Grohl do it for him. Lovely.

Well I was so inspired by this song that I had to write a brief little post on the moment when my character will in time betray the Doctor as she was always trained to do. I will leave the ending to the future, to give me something to look forward to.
Her breath caught bitterly in her lungs as some alien wave of emotion inched into her very marrow. Cerulean eyes glanced, flitting over the gleaming TARDIS console as the legendary time vessel came to a halt, the echos of the engines dissipating as the man she had come to only faintly understand hopped down past her towards the doors with his customary grin echoing across his face.
Time seemed to take pause then, as though in his wake.
The Doctor.
All that he had seen, all that he was, and would now...never be.
.
Issildia knew what waited beyond those doors, she was the one who had charted their course...she was the spider who had crafted the web with her own brutally tired hands. Every strand was now in place, so exquisite...so perfect...and yet. Her stomach knotted, and her throat tightened from where she sat at the duo to steps just below the console. Why? Why did she feel in such a way...why did time not hurry along now as it so loved to do. Why was this moment eternal...why was Issildia Nevar, a huntress of the Institute, the perfect little weapon writhing like an ant under a searing beam of sunlight.
He grinned briefly at her, hand reaching for the door. Breaking the spell, time racing forward...to fast....to soon....
Her breath caught in her chest once again as simultaneously outside that brilliant blue box, seventy M-Class Quasar Core pistols were being primed with a hushed symphony of metallic clicks.
She knew what waited for him, and yet there was no attempt to stop him.
.
People can't change...and time can never be rewritten...
He had given her a glimpse of freedom for naught...she was eternally a tool of the Institute and nothing more. .
The door clicked open, a breath of apple grass tinged air greeting Issildia, welcoming her home.
"Doctor..."

Oh, good one Nevar. Very interesting and mysterious. I might regret this later -but- it's late and I'm on crack I'm hyper. So here goes. ;D Trolling' through youtube late at night, I rediscovered THIS beautiful gem of a Caramelldansen. (OH YES.) If anyone doesn't know what the Caramelldansen is, it's the dance the Doctor is showcasing above and this how the song sounds. Boo to The Master not joining in properly! XD(It's usually done with cute looking anime/manga characters...) So it gave me a crazy idea and I need to write something cheery and funny, so here goes. Cue song, dance and embarrassment! Earth had been quiet these past few days. Nothing too exciting or extraordinary, no alien invasions, no nuclear threats, nothing. Everything was just fine.
Except from in a small street in East London. A red head was being dragged down it, looking as reluctant as cat going to the vet, by what appeared to be his owner. The brunette lady kept a hold of his arm as he moaned and groaned at her, saying that he didn't want to be there, it could be settled somewhere more private, etc. She didn't say a word back to him, continuing on her path. A minute later, she dragged him into a deserted club.
The house lights were not on an The Mentalist looked bemused as she dragged him in. He couldn't help but get the wrong idea as he was sat down in bar chair, facing a clear dance floor. He slyly grinned at the woman, trying to take her hand.
"Aaw, what's the matter sweetheart? Want me to buy you a drink?"
She threw it straight off, turning round to him, looking angry.
"No. That's not what we're here for and that's Psychologist to you."
He moaned again, she was so harsh for having such a nice face. She stood in front of him, hands on her hips, looking as fierce as she could.
"Well, now that we're here, there's a few people I'd like you to meet. Recognize any of them? Come on out guys."
From behind the bar popped up another Time Lord and a mean looking Thyrolian. The Thyrolian jumped over the bar, black and pink hair moving as she did. The blond time lord then followed her. The Guitarist and Amelia Rodriguez stood on the other side of the bar, in a line, glaring at The Mentalist. He tried to smile back, but ended up frowning. He hated both of these people.
From another end, two other Thyrolians came out from behind some curtains and a table. One, the teenager, was clearly missing an arm and the adult had a huge scar down the side of his face, just by his ear. They both glared angrily at him. He spoke to both of them.
"Hey hey guys, what's up? Look, I didn't mean to cut off your arm kid, it just got in the way, that's all. And as for your face Douglas, I didn't mean that one either! Slip of the hand!"
The red head was starting to get even more annoyed now. He hated these two people as well! The Psychologist then glared at him.
"And sadly, The Doctor and Hunter couldn't make it tonight, but that doesn't matter. They send their best wishes too. Right, now, I think that's everyone. Time for a little payback. We all now know two of the things you hate the most in life. Cheery music and dancing. So what better way to annoy you than this? Guitarist! Cue the music. "
The blond time lord then wandered over to a stereo, pushed a button, then started to nod his head along with the beat as he ran back. The Mentalist looked between them all, confused and the music slowly dawning on him. He knew this song- HE DESPISED THIS SONG AND IT'S DANCE! Trying to scramble away from the chair, to the door, he could help but see all of them.
They were dancing along. This was the ultimate payback. Smiles, dancing, cheery upbeat music? This was torture.
The red head ran to the door, only to hear The Guitarist, in the midst of moving his hands and hips, shout to him.
"We locked the door idiot! Now enjoy this!"
The red-head back off to the door, a look of disgust and horror etched on his face. The thyrolians seemed to be having a good time, evil little happy smiles on their faces. The two dancing time lord seemed to like it too, they were having fun too! The Mentalist scrambled to the door, scratching it to death as the happy music kept playing. His escape plans didn't work and he was left inside. He turned back to look at them, his face a true picture. Finally, after some more screaming over the loud dance music, he fell to the floor, his hands clamped over his ears and starting rolling about. The entourage of dancers just smiled, enjoying themselves too much. Even the youngest Rodriguez found herself singing along, despite the lack of an arm.
Finally, the music stopped, The Mentalist in tears and still begging them to stop and turn off the music, the group came over to him. They watched as he rolled about, looking rather proud. Payback was sweet. Gunman smiled, as the rest had a little laugh to themselves.
"Looks like revenge is best served as a Speedycake Remix."
FIN! Oh deary, deary. Oh my. That was a bit longer than expected, oh well..... Meh, made me smile, hope it makes someone else smile!
