This thread is specifically for those who do not know anything about Doctor Who. It is here that people can ask questions about it.
To summarize briefly, Doctor Who is a science fiction British TV show. The main character of the show is called the Doctor, and he is an alien that travels across all of time and space in his ship called the TARDIS.
The Doctor is an alien known as a Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey. If you've looked at the board, you've probably noticed that there are boards called First Doctor, Second Doctor, Third Doctor, Fourth Doctor, Fifth Doctor, Sixth Doctor, Seventh Doctor, Eighth Doctor, Ninth Doctor, Tenth Doctor, Eleventh Doctor..... This probably looks confusing to you.
The thing is that when a Time Lord dies, he or she regenerates. This means that their entire physical appearance changes. (Practically speaking, every time the actor playing the Doctor quit the show, a new actor would come in and play the Doctor.) Each Doctor is thus portrayed by a different actor. The Doctor's taste in clothing and personality also change with each regeneration.
The Doctor tends to pick up people along the way as his traveling companions. This would typically be what original characters would be in the roleplay. However, they can also be enemies or minor characters.
If you have any questions about the show or fandom, please don't hesitate to ask. This thread is guest friendly.

Well let's see the only questions I would have would spoil it for me. If I would be able to see it to begin with. *flails around* x3 Buuut I would possibly join if I didn't have four other accounts to worry about including running a forum. Phew! And I was overwhelmed by all the people who have been online and I'd feel a bit overwhelmed. o.o Grah, which makes me feel more determined to rally up more people for my forum.
p.s. This is your friendly neighborhood Harls from Nightly Mayhem.

Ten, I don't want to sound out of line or nosy or anything, but Time Lords don't regenerate when they die. It's their way of avoiding death - say, for example, if Nine were to absorb too much radiation for his body to cope with, then all of his cells would repair, forcing the radiation from his body - and staying healthy for the future.
I just wanted to point it out, as I find this to be a very important Doctor Who fact.

Harley -- sorry I didn't get back to you earlier -- I've been really busy. You are more than welcome to use that person as a character Gylfie -- certain kinds of radiation don't kill Time Lords -- and every time Nine and Ten has talked about regeneration, they've always said "something happens to them when they die." Nine told Rose he was dying. Ten told Martha that "tehre's this thing that happens when I die..." or something like that. In order for a regeneration to happen, the old part has to die so that the regeneration can take place. This is true for both physical and theological uses of the word. Nine was just trying to explain it to Rose when he talked about it being the way they cheat death. However, a regeneration is the death of one body and personality of a Time Lord. That's why Ten was so mad at Donna's grandfather, and why he kept on saying he didn't want to go. There are two kinds of regeneration, I think that might be confusing here. Yes, there is the cellular regeneration and then there is THE regeneration that happens when Nine becomes Ten, etc. Yes, Time Lord bodies can heal from injuries faster than humans. When Nine regenerated into Ten, he told Rose that every cell in his body was dying.

Your 'techno babble' had confused me. c: I'll just accept what you said.
I mean, I understand now that regeneration equals death for that particular Time Lord, but I was referring to the instance when they die. For example, if they were shot in the heart, then they would have the option to regenerate or die, like the Master. If they were forced to jump into a pool of acid, they would die and wouldn't have the chance to regenerate, like in Night Of The Humans.
That's what I meant. You said that 'when they die, they regenerate', but they don't always have the option. c: That's what I meant.
