The Doctor looked at the newcomer, "Well, we're trying to get out of here...." he whispered back. He could tell that this other person was not the same species as the guards, and it didn't seem like this individual was with them. "See, we landed here....accident, really....must have gotten the year wrong....and we were taken in for questioning..."

"Gotten the year wrong? Never mind. I can get you guys out of here, there's a secret passage over here. Come on. Follow me, quickly," the man whispered as he started down the hall and ducked into a small passage when the guards came by.

The Doctor quickly followed the man, ducking into the small passageway to avoid the guard. He pulled Donna into it as well. The man seemed trustworthy enough, anyway. Although he didn't really know the man, he was leading the Doctor away....he hoped so, at least.

As soon as the guard had stormed away, the man looked into the passageway, feeling the walls. Finally, there was a soft click and a wall closed them off from the hallway and another opened up to a lesser-used hallway. "Come on, this way," the man said before walking down the hallway quickly. "You shouldn't be here. I'm sure you've heard by now that there's a war going on."

The Doctor followed quickly after the man, and asked, "Are we safe right now? And, yes, I heard about the war -- but maybe you could tell me a bit more...."
He glanced back towards Donna, hoping that she wasn't too exhausted to follow. "Secret passeway....so....do the guards know about it?"

"No, the guards don't know about this passage. We are safe now," the man said, continuing down the hallway at a less frantic pace. "It actually took a lot of research to find out about it. Kradston actually found blueprints of this building and found that there was enough room for such a space that wasn't used."

"Why was it even built with a secret passageway?" the Doctor asked the man, trying to figure it out. "And about this war....what started it?"
The Doctor stopped when he heard the man tell him that they were safe. He stopped mostly for Donna's benefit, hoping that she'd be able to catch up easily. He also stopped because he wanted to have a serious conversation with this man. A serious conversation was hard to hold if both people were running. He asked the question that he did mostly so that he could learn the other side of the story -- whether or not it would be the same...or what was different about it. The Doctor surmised that this man was one of the ones fighting against the people who had captured himself and Dona.

The man looked at the Doctor as he stopped. "We can slow down, but we have to keep moving, please. All will be explained when we reach our destination." He didn't think it safe to talk too much in these tunnels, in case the sound reverberated back and his enemy caught scent of the secret passageway. He continued down the hallway, but walked instead of running.

The Doctor started walking again as well, glancing back at Donna, "Well, come on," he said to her. "And just where is our destination?" the Doctor asked, curious. He hoped that he and Donna weren't going to now become prisoners of the other side.

"I'm going to take you to a safe house on the planet. You two should be safe there until I can see about getting you guys back on your way," the man said. He looked back at the Doctor. "My name is Jamison."

"Hello Jamison....I'm the Doctor and my friend is named Donna...we were traveling together...I will need to get back to this building eventually...my ship is on the roof -- big blue box."
The Doctor glanced back at Donna and sighed. He slowed down a bit so that she could catch up.

Donna couldn't get a word in edge-wise, as the two whispered, so she just focused on listening and keeping up with the two men. She was just falling behind when the Doctor stopped, letting her catch her breath.
"We can slow down, but we have to keep moving, please. All will be explained when we reach our destination."
The Doctor started walking again as well, glancing back at Donna, "Well, come on," he said to her.
Donna gave him a look as she started moving again. "You may be able to run for ages without a break, alien boy, but some of us don't have a respiratory bypass system."
She gave a head nod when the Doctor introduced them and kept walking. When she heard the Doctor audibly sigh, she cocked an eyebrow, staring at the back of his head. She was going as fast as she could, he didn't have to make her feel bad about it.
Finally catching her breath, she was able to pick up the pace a bit.

When the Doctor heard that Donna was following a bit faster than she had been, he glanced back at her and nodded. "Right....sorry....but we DO have to keep moving." He gave her a serious look. "We are in the midst of a war....and now that we are with their enemy, convicting us of spying would be much easier....and I don't think we want that to happen."
He continued to follow after the man, but allowed Donna to walk next to him.

She rolled her eyes, but kept moving. "Think I don't know that?" Donna chalked it up to him being in a high stress environment, but he had never treated her like this before when they'd been running for their lives. Donna shook it off and paid attention to getting out.
"So Jamison...what happened? They told us two kids died in their facility playing around..."

Jamison looked back at Donna. "Three kids were taken into the facility for questioning about our planet. Wanted to know certain things about our political system, our economy. They tortured two of the boys to death. One got away, just barely, dying in the hospital that day. They tried covering it up, burning the facility to the ground. They spread the story about it being juvenile delinquency. They demanded we pay for the 'damage they caused'. But we refused. We heard the true story. One of the students heard the dying boy and reported it. The rest is history of a series of pay-backs and counter-strikes until it escalated into war."
