"We have proton blasters. Very primitive in comparison to their weapons. They have neutron cannons and plasma shielding. I haven't heard about Skaro. I'm sorry to hear you lost your planet," Jamison said, then went to look for a map of the area.

"Well.....I get the feeling that you haven't yet told me everything about this war, Jamison. What is it that you're not telling me?"
The Doctor looked Jamison over carefully, glancing at Donna as he did so. He had almost made up his mind to help out, but he felt as if Jamison were hiding something from him. "But what could it be?" the Doctor thought to himself. "Something possibly....embarrassing for his people....or something deemed too terrible to mention...."
He glanced around at the meager setting for this encampment. The tent looked like it had a leak in it, judging by the bucket that was sitting there, full of water from a previous rain. It looked strategically placed under a section of fabric that looked rather worn.
Glancing back at the man, he asked Jamison, "How are you communicating with the other camps?"

Jamison frowned when he searched for more information. "We've had quite a good number of soldiers deserting to the other side in order to gain some safety from the enemy. Most were trying to get their wives back. We're running out of troops."
He then looked over at the table where there was a two-way radio. "We don't communicate with the other camps. We communicate only with the commander and the strategist. Mostly the strategist these last few months."

The Doctor replied, "I'm sorry....so....if we were to help you out......"
He glanced at Jamison, as he gestured to himself and Donna. "How could you use us? Who....who is this commander person? And who is the stategist? How could I find them?"
The Time Lord had the feeling that he wasn't going to get much more information out of Jamison. He understood that this man was looking out for his soldiers, but he still felt he needed to know more about the situation. Would this man allow him to talk to the leaders on this side?

Jamison seemed hopeful about receiving help. "Yes, of course. I can get you in contact with Kradston. He should know how you could be of help." He went over to the communication device and started to call in Kradston.
***
Kradston looked over his map of troops, hands on the desk as his mind tried to work it out. Someone came in with a message, telling him that Troopleader 42 wanted to contact him.

The Doctor grinned at Jamison, "Thank you."
He really did want to know more about the situation so that he could assess it himself, yes...that and help. He glanced at Donna, hoping that all of this was okay with her. She DID seem eager to help out. He watched Jamison call this Kradston fellow. He surmised that Kradston must be one of the main leaders in charge of this war -- at least their side of it.

Kradston moved to take the call. "Kradston here."
Jamison took a deep breath, then said, "We found a man and woman in the holding cell facility. He calls himself the Doctor, and she, Donna. They want to help."
"Put him on," Kradston told him.
Jamison handed the Doctor the communication device.

He glanced at Donna, hoping that all of this was okay with her. She DID seem eager to help out.
Donna nodded and gave a small smile of approval. The Doctor was a good man, but she hadn't been sure if he would want to get involved in another war. She was very glad the Doctor was going to help, and she would do the same.
Donna kept silent as the phone was handed to the Doctor.

The Doctor took the device from Jamison, speaking into it. "Hello...so you are one of the generals?"
Before the specifics could be named, the Doctor needed to make sure that he knew who he was talking to. He glanced at Donna and nodded, letting her know that he had understood. The Time Lord waited for the answer from the man on the other end.

"Who are you? What do you want? I have precious time to deal with," Kradston said. "Yes, this is Kradston."
He knew that the other side already knew about him, so he wasn't worried.

The Doctor responded, "I'm the Doctor -- a traveling...just sort of passing through. My friend and I were captured by your enemies. Jamison here rescued us...and Donna and I...we'd like to help your cause...."
He knew that he would most likely have some more explainign to do -- such as the fact that he was an alien...but he knew that he had to give the man enough information to go off of.

Donna nodded, even though, as she realized a split second afterwards, Kradston obviously couldn't see her.

"And what do you know of our cause? How do you expect to help us? How do I know that you really were captured by the enemy and not acting as spies for them?" Kradston asked.
Jamison watched the Doctor, then glanced at Donna. He was wondering the same as Kradston, but whatever hope they could find, he would accept.

"Not much," the Doctor admitted. "But I do know that your war started because of several children from your planet being brutally murdered by the other side....I was hoping to find out more from you so that I would know just what needed to be done. You don't know that I'm telling the truth, but believe me...I've seen war. I do not want this to turn into another Skaro....and right now, I'm the only outside help that you've got. Your choice."

Donna knew there was nothing they could really say to convince the general. She only hoped he would believe the Doctor.
