Kyra frowned. "Yeah, I guess we do, Ty," she sent to her boyfriend. She really didn't like the sound of this at all. Taken in for questioning? What was this Torchwood?

The guard eyed Eight and answered him in a whisper. "No, aliens from other planets. There is a man...he calls himself the Doctor....any information on him would bring you immediate reward. Torchwood is charged with bringing all alien activity to an end. The Doctor is a known meddler, and if you hear of him, you are to report him immediately. Failure to do so, and you will face imprisonment and death. Now, are you sure you have not heard of a time traveling alien or any other aliens?"
____________ Tyler followed after Six, deciding that it was better that he said nothing more about aliens or other planets. He was now close enough to the guard to overhear what he was saying. Did humans really hate aliens? He certainly wasn't going to say that he was one.
He nervously glanced in "Jane's" direction, afraid that she would turn them all in -- well, the only one that she would have evidence on would be him.
And they knew of the Doctor? And they apparently wanted him dead. This was very bad news for his brother -- both regenerations of his brother.

Eight was a bit taken aback but he was too experienced in allowing it to show. It sounded as if he had been branded an outlaw! What had happened to bring this about? He wildly searched through his memories but could not find anything that would result in this, unless it was among the missing events or perhaps an event yet to come. Still, best to remain in the role he had cast himself.'
"Ah..from another planet, you said? How marvelous! The Doctor? Hmm, I don't recall anyone with that name but I shall definitely keep an eye out now. Reward, you say? Oh my word!" He glanced around at his Sixth self and brother. "A reward from the Queen would be rather substantial, wouldn't you say, chaps? Enough to pay off our university bills and I dare say, even our bar bills! Let's go alien-hunting, shall we?" He leaned forward and gave the guard a pat on the shoulder. "Thanks for the tip! With my mates at my side this Doctor fellow will be caught in no time! Oh, by the by, what does this alien look like? Green, perhaps? With tentacles?"

The guard frowned in frustration. So these individuals hadn't seen the Doctor. If they had, they would know it.
A confused expression crossed Tyler's face, and then he replied. "Oh....I'm sorry...you must have overheard my lines from a play I'm in. It's a science fiction play, and my character travels to another planet.....we're all in the play together.....but I don't know anything about REAL aliens, and I don't know anything about a Doctor," Tyler lied.
The guard nodded. His claim to being the one responsible for bringing in the Doctor's friends were dashed. His superiors had already left in pursuit of the Doctor. He had hoped that he could turn these people in, trying to bait them with greed.
The guard sighed. Not only had he failed, but he had failed badly. Torchwood was supposed to be a secret, and now these people knew about it. However, they looked capable enough. Maybe they would find the Doctor...if the Doctor happened to escape. With that hope in mind, he replied, "He's appears to be human, strangely dressed.....but if you ever encounter someone who calls themselves the Doctor, contact the Queen's office....and ask for officer Henry Smith."
Tyler still glanced at Susan, afraid that she would say something now.

Six raised his eyebrows at himself - the future version of himself, that is. "Our bar bills? Now, don't get too carried away, my boy," he replied. He walked out of the building, deciding that it'd be better to just leave than stand there looking nervous. Six hadn't brought Tyler and his girlfriend to Earth so that the Doctors could get themselves kidnapped. How would Earth look to them then? Then again, how did Earth look to them now? The guard had already tried to bribe them with money, one of the greatest human desires. He knew humans that would sell their own mothers out of hiding.
Susan put her hands behind her back, a small smile on her face. So her grandfather hadn't been lying when he had mentioned that they might run into a bit of trouble in this time period. She watched with interest as the others lied -- well, she didn't have any certain proof that they were lying. But, she reasoned, if the man really was from Gallifrey as he said, then they would know of the Doctor.
"Officer Henry Smith, is it?" she repeated, locking the name away. "Thank you, sir, I'll be sure to contact you with an information I come across," she assured him.
She glanced over to Tyler and smiled. Susan walked out of the building and shuddered from the sudden cold. She looked over to Six and grinned, walking over to him. "One can't help but almost feel sorry for the guard, hm?"
"I didn't feel sorry for him at all," he replied bluntly. He just wanted the rest of them to come out so he could get out of this blasted weather and away from people who wanted to proke and prod him. Actually, first, he wanted to find out who the man who had run off so quickly.

Eight walked out of the building with a thoughtful expression. It wasn't that being arrested and thought a lawbreaker was new to him, he usually knew all the causes leading up to it.
"One of the effects of time travel," he remarked to Tyler. "Is that sometimes you feel like you just picked up a book and started reading in the middle of it. I really have no idea why the Queen would want me taken in, I usually get along quite well with royalty." He glanced at the brick sides of the building and at a nearby light pole. "You don't happen to see any wanted posters with my picture on them, so you?"

Kyra just clung to Tyler's arm, hoping for the best. She didn't want to say anything, in case she said something wrong. "I said it might have been better if we went somewhere else," she sent to Tyler and Six. Sure it was originally for selfish reasons, but now she couldn't help feeling a bit nervous and cornered. She tried not to show it, though. She knew it might condemn her in front of these people.

Tyler followed the others outside. Once outside, Tyler turned to both versions of his brother in alarm. "Wait.....humans don't like aliens? Are they like Gallifreyans then....in that they think they are superior to every other species? It would have been nice to know that before visiting Earth....I...."
He stopped as he realized that "Jane" was still there. "And I suppose that you're going to report us..." He remembered her promising the guard information. "Please..." he begged her. "I didn't know....we don't mean to cause trouble, and we're not hostile."
Tyler looked around, but saw no such wanted posters. He replied to Eight, "Well, the man seemed secretive, so my guess would be that they do not want to broadcast to everyone that they are looking for...you. Had yours been the face they were looking for, they would have arrested us on the spot, right? Unless they want us to think that we're safe...I don't know how arresting procedures go on this planet..."
Tyler squeezed Kyra's arm. "It's fine...we could always go to another time period on this planet...or location."

Susan bit her tongue as she heard the man say that the Queen wanted him. Surely the man didn't believe that he was the Doctor? But that wasn't possible unless there had been two Doctors in the same place at the same time. Why hadn't the incarnation of her grandfather realized that he himself would have been there as well? And why had her version of the Doctor -- the tenth -- been so wary of the multicolored man? There couldn't be more than one Doctor. How could she have gone so long without seeing another Time Lord, and now she was surrounded by them - and, it seems, more than one Doctor.
Sometimes she really hated time travel. She rubbed her temples, feeling the beginnings of a migraine. She glanced up as she was addressed by Tyler - although now she still wasn't sure whether that was his real name or not. "I'm not going to report any of you," she promised. "The Queen is looking for the Doctor because.. of something to do with werewolves. I'm fuzzy on the details," she told them, remembering her grandfather's words - er, the grandfather she had met.
Six glanced over at Kyra. I'm sorry about that, he admitted sheepishly. I was trying to take you somewhere you'd enjoy. That backfired, hm? He cleared his throat, not used to making apologies - even mental ones. At least we haven't been attacked by anything too vicious. I have the worst luck on Earth sometimes, he confided, and briefly wondered why he had taken them to Earth since he did have such bad luck with it.

"If we don't get executed first..." Kyra sent back gloomily. She didn't like this at all. She didn't want any of this happening. She wished she had just stayed at home and tried to convince Tyler to stay with her. No, she had to be stupid and follow along like she always did.

"Werewolves? But I've met up with werewolves several times and none of them....oh wait." Eight nodded. That statement and what Tyler had said meant that this all happened in the future. "Well, I guess that means any more royal invitations is out. Quite a shame, I met more interesting people that way. Charles Dickens, for one. Which reminds me, I really should get his manuscript back to him."

Susan shifted uncomfortably as the man started talking about meeting with werewolves. "Something about the Queen getting bitten by one, I believe," she told him, trying to be useful. "I should be leaving now," she muttered, glaring down at the Victorian dress banefully.
Six raised his eyebrows. "I care as much about our social calendar as the next me, but can we leave?" he casted a vague arm to the city around them. "Not much fun to be had if we can't even introduce ourselves properly," he sighed dramatically. He reached out and grabbed Susan's wrist.
"Why don't you stay," he suggested/ordered. He grinned, letting her go. "You still haven't told us your real name, or about the man who left the party in such a rush."
She crossed her arms - a trifle hard to do in the stuffy dress, but she managed to still look mildly annoyed. "Are you... him?" she asked quietly. "You," she pointed to Eight, "are talking about how much of a pain it is for the him to have been outlawed. So it's you, right?" she asked. She then turned back to Six. "And you... well, you use some very confusing personal pronouns but that's not the point, except it sort of is. Are you the same person?"
Susan rubbed her head again, briefly wondering if she had packed some Advil in her bag. "Oh nevermind. I'm going to go get out of this ridiculous outfit," she muttered, wobbling on the ice unsteadily.

Tyler glanced at Eight. "It doesn't mean anything...you just happen to be a medical doctor. They are probably looking for a different doctor....and werewolves......I doubt they even exist."
He sent a telepathic message to Eight, Six, and Kyra, "The human girl that is following us around...we don't want her to have information to sell to someone...I don't trust her...even if she says she won't tell on us...."
Tyler stared at Susan, but said nothing. Did humans regenerate? He'd thought Time Lords were the only ones who did, but he wasn't going to voice his question.
_______________ Ten sent Susan a message, "I....I'm all right...remember...I'll meet you in New York 2010 if you.....use your vortex manipulator....or well....."
Tyler felt a tickle in the back of his neck -- several tickles.

Kyra just clung to Tyler's arm, keeping quiet. She just wanted to get out. She hated the sound of all this. They wanted the Doctor. And Tyler didn't trust this woman. And none of them trusted the guards that were trying to detain them. She didn't want to say anything. She didn't want to accidentally condemn them.

Tyler asked out loud to both versions of his brother, momentarily forgetting that "Jane" was there, asked, "Is there somewhere else we can go on Earth....another place or time period?"
He glanced from Six to Eight, hoping that one of them would make a suggestion.
It was then he realized that "Jane" was still there and frowned. "I mean.....another place....going to another country makes it seem like it's a different time period..."
Tyler wrapped his arm around Kyra, holding her close.
