Her curiosity perked about Rose, but she knew better than pry into her grandfather's social life. Especially when he had sort of agreed to letting her meet somebody besides that one girl. Her grandfather was old, so he must have met some interesting people.
"We shall, Mister Smith." She teased. Susan followed his gaze to the people around them. "We could ask around for Mum. Or I could, in case someone would recognize you." She grinned, basking in the glory of a recently-regenerated anonymity.

New York - 1889
As Brenna and Will walked through the street market, no one really took notice of them as their swift hands pocketed various fruits and breads. This is what they did, everyday. They lived off of the streets and on the streets. If someone was unlucky enough to boast about how much they had, they would find themselves "accidentally" bumped and, later, their pockets a few dollars short.

James brought his legs toward him, bringing Clara with them. She gasped happily as he brought her into his lap.
"You are such a romantic," he said with a grin.
Clara returned the grin and leaned against him, putting her forehead to his. "Like you're any better?"

Cait eyed a Syclak tree, with its purple leaves web-like branches. He spotted Cayden high in the branches, sniffing for the flower he was trying to find.
"You know, you're sniffing up the wrong tree," Cait said to him, in the only way that a Sprigganian can, telepathically.
Cayden's ears twitched a bit and he looked down to his cousin. "Would you like to tell me which tree to search in, then, cousin Cait?"

(awesome... The Docor glanced at Susan, "Yep....go ahead and...ask...." He grinned at her, enjoying her enthusiasm. "Oh...and don't mention Rose to anyone....she was with me at the time that we met the Queen -- the Queen thought her naked because she dressed in 21st century clothing." He laughed at the memory of it. "Thing is...I didn't mean to take us there in that year....accident, really." He could tell that his granddaughter wanted to know about Rose. He would have to tell her about it later.

New York 1889
Just as Brenna grabbed another apple from the stand, a constable grabbed her wrist.
"Aha! Snatching a meal, are we? You're coming with me," he said in a scruff voice.
Brenna knew exactly what to do. She quickly bit the man's wrist, making him howl a bit before letting go, alerting Will. Once she was free, she ran to where she saw Will was and they took off down an alleyway, which wide grins on their faces. This was part of the fun of snatching instead of begging. The running, the thrill of the chase.

James and Clara sat like this for a while, her sitting on his lap with his arms around her waist. She brought her hands to his neck and laced her fingers behind it.
"So is that a 'yes'?" Clara asked with a smirk.
"Hmm, not sure... let me think about it," James said playfully, moving his head so that he could kiss her cheek.

Cait smirked a bit. "And why should I tell you? You're my competition."
Cayden quickly jumped from branch as he made his way down to him. "Because you have an unfair advantage: you know something that I don't."

Susan nodded. "I will ask!" She turned and was about to saunter her way up to the nearest Important-Looking-Person when her grandfather started speaking. "I won't." She agreed, deciding that she didn't know how the girl Rose would wind up as a conversation topic. But she also knew her grandfather's luck - if there was a random bucket falling from the sky, it'd him right on the head against all the astronomical odds.
She wobbled her way up to the nearest Important-Looking-Person. "Excuse me, but can you tell me if the Queen is here?" Susan asked politely.
The woman looked at her with an arched eyebrow. "This is a party being thrown for the Queen." Her glanced at Susan scrutinizingly. "To celebrate the success of the war. Of course she would be here."
Susan blinked and smiled warmly. "I knew that, miss. I was asking if Her Highness has arrived or if she is still on her way." She figured that was a good enough save as the woman seemed to relax slightly. "Goodbye." Susan turned around and muttered bitterly under her breath, mocking the women in a whispered falsetto. "Of course she would be here."
She approached her grandfather. "So I don't actually know the answer to if she is here. But I do know that she's supposed to attend. So she's either here or... on her way."

Brenna looked back or a second to make sure they had actually evaded the man. She was disappointed that they had.
"They're getting better at noticing, you know," Brenna said to Will. He just nodded as they stopped to catch their breath.

Clara grinned, but pulled away. "Oh, come on. We deserve a break. How long have we been working now?"
"Let's see, I think it's been 6 years," James said as he went to nuzzle her neck.
"And how many times have we been shot at, kidnapped, or died?" Clara asked, letting him try to distract her.
James stopped and thought about it. "Well, last I checked, we've been shot at at least every day for the past month, we've been kidnapped twice each, you've died twice and I haven't died at all."
Clara felt him pause and pulled back a bit to look into his eyes. "I think we are long overdue for a vacation, don't you?"

The Doctor watched Susan go off and ask one of the important looking individuals. Once Susan had returned and had told him that the party was for the Queen he grinned. "Right then....so I haven't been noticed yet....which means....we still might be able to enjoy this party....just have to be careful. It has been what....two years since she met me the first time, her time line, of course. Maybe I'll just blend in. She'd be looking for Rose, and she won't find Rose....so we could be safe."
He looked at his granddaughter and grinned.

"Yeah, I know," Will said. "Let's go home, alright?"
Brenna nodded.

James looked into her eyes for a second, then sighed and nodded. "Alright."
Clara smiled, childishly happy, and kissed his forehead. "Come on, let's go. The TARDIS is ready to go and we're already packed."
She quickly tried to get up off his lap to go to her TARDIS, but he held on. "You assumed I would say yes?" James asked as he raised an eyebrow at her.

Cait smirked again. "Nope. For the first time I have an advantage over you, I'm not going to give that up."
Cayden frowned a bit, his ears tucked back in mock sadness. "You're not playing fair."
"Oh, you should talk. How many times have you cheated to get what you wanted?" Cait said sorely in reply as he turned around with a huff.

She held up her thumbs as he informed her that he hadn't been noticed yet. "We very well could be." She agreed. Susan decided not to tell her grandfather that she doubted if she were ever truly safe with him. The man was, let's face the truth, not exactly known for his inconspiciousity. "Maybe her memory is failing her. It is getting rather late in her life, isn't it?"
She returned the grin her grandfather gave her. "How's your life been since the last time we met?" The question didn't hold any malice or bitterness (something that surprised her). It just held curiosity. She didn't know if now was the best time for potential top secret questions, but he was her grandfather.

New York 1889
Brenna and Will climbed up to the abandoned flat that was their home, for now. As soon as they caught whiff that someone was going to move in, they'd relocate to another one. This flat didn't have much too it. There were various items that they had "collected" and would later sell. Then there was Brenna's book collection: a stack about a foot high of various titles. Most were fiction, some were educational, and one was a copy of the dictionary.
Brenna and Will quickly emptied their pockets on the small makeshift table. They scored a good haul today, and they quickly began to enjoy it.

Clara looked at James, feeling a bit guilty. "Well, yeah. I mean..." She looked down, pouting that he was upset with her.
James took one of his hands and lifted up her chin. "You know me too well, that's all. It gets a bit disappointing when you know what I'm going to say before I say it." He looked into her eyes trying to find the right words that would make her feel better.
Clara smiled weakly. "I'm sorry. It's just, I've been thinking about this for a long time, and I think you'd really enjoy it."

The Doctor looked back at Susan, "Well, my life has been brilliant, really -- all traveling, really....oh...and the Time War..." he frowned at that. The Time War wasn't so brilliant, after all. "Been a lot of places, seen a lot....same as ever." He forced himself to smile, trying to not think about the Time War. why had he even brought it up?
He sent to Susan, "Now, all we need to do is find out whether....Torchwood is here...or if they are....looking for me.....not sure yet how we can do that without drawing attention to me.....I guess we could...sort of listen in to the conversations around us."
Since Time Lord hearing was superior to human hearing, this wouldn't be too difficult. The Doctor was grateful that his granddaughter was of the same species.

NY 1889
Brenna was the first to finish, and she put the longer-lasting food in a box when Will was finished. She quickly went over to her stack of books, sat down, and found her newest edition to the collection. She opened it up and began to read.
Will watched her read and smiled a bit. Her thirst for knowledge was staggering, and the fact that she was willing to steal more in order to satisfy it was... well, interesting, he guessed was the word he wanted to use.

James smiled and moved his hand to Clara's cheek, feeling her cool inhuman skin. "Don't worry so much."
Clara could tell what he wanted and she leaned forward to make it easier for him to have it before they left, bringing her lips closer to his.
James smiled a bit before kissing her. He didn't care that she was a different species, he loved her too much to care. She could actually have green skin and purple eyes and he wouldn't care. He loved her and she loved him and that was all that mattered.

"Traveling is nice." She replied with a nod, glancing away as he mentioned the Time War. Susan wasn't quite sure how to handle the situation - the situation of her grandfather remembering the tragedy - and thus she changed the subject. His attempt ("been a lot of places...") had failed miserably or so Susan thought.
She didn't have to think of something to change the subject with before her grandfather got back to business. Listen. Right. Easily done. Susan looked around her, trying to pick out any conspicuous conversation. She looked slightly conspicuous glancing around fervently to see any conspicuous people, however they all looked inconspicuous and she was, in the end, the only conspicuous-looking person.
I'm used to just sneaking into people's minds. She admitted sullenly.

After a few moments, Will stood up and headed for the door. Brenna looked up from her book at the sound of his bare feet moving across the floor.
"Where are you going?" she asked.
Will looked back and smiled a bit. "I told Richie that I'd look for something for him. It shouldn't take long, I'll be right back."
Brenna nodded and watched him go through the door.

Clara pulled away from him after a while to give him some air. "Come on, we've got a date with Lady Liberty."
James smiled and patted her side to tell her that he couldn't get up with her sitting on his lap. She then stood up, and so did he, and they both headed for the wardrobe that wasn't a wardrobe.
