An Assignment From the High Council

[Davros]

Davros watched the crackling circular image on the screen in front of him intently being transmitted from the dalek's eyestalk."Follow and observe,"he ordered into some concealed microphone.

The dalek began to slowly trundle along the path keeping a distance between itself and its prey."If you are detected become stationary at once,"advised Davros,chuckling slightly as he watched the two figures walking away.

Kari and Aragorn continued to walk in the direction of Kari's dorm. Kari blushed slightly at the thought of this handsome man walking with her back to her building.

Neither Aragorn nor Kari noticed the Dalek following behind them, as they both had their attention focused elsewhere. Once they reached the building, Kari sighed with relief. "I think I'm fine now...thank you."

Aragorn stood there, unsure. He sent a quick message to the Librarian, "She stopped at the door to the building. Should I offer to go inside with her?"

[Oracle]

Having not talked to their daughter in some time Kari's mother and father decided it was time to call her to say hi it's that or surprise her by showing up on campus...they decide to save that for another time so they dial her room number both doing the parent thing by sharing one phone headset/

It was at that moment that Kari heard her phone ring. Frowning, she said to the handsome man, "Please wait...."

She picked up the phone and said into it, "Hello?"

Aragorn turned around and looked out upon the campus. It was then that his eyes landed on the Dalek again. Since he was a Time Lord, his vision was superior to humans. Frowning at it, he said out loud, "Is it just me or did that thing just move?" He stared at it. Knowing that it wasn't from Earth or this time period troubled him. It could be some sort of camera or spying device.

Thinking that it might be somehow related to the aliens they were supposed to be tracking, he sent another message to the Librarian, "Hey...have you seen that funny looking metal things that appear to be out of their time and place anywhere? I think one may be following me around...."

[Oracle]

Kari's mother smiled "hey sweetheart its your mom.." "and dad" "yes both your parents." she glanced over at her husband for a second laughing a little "we where just calling to check on you we hadn't heard from you in a while, how are you made any new friend." "go any male friend that i may need to scare for you." her father laughs a little at the comment he just made clearly jokeing

Kari's face went slightly red at the mention of any new male friends. She hoped that the handsome man next to her didn't overhear. Aragorn, however, wasn't looking at her. Instead, his eyes were fixed on the metallic creature that he didn't know was called a Dalek.

Kari answered her parents, "Well, I know it's been a while. I've just been so busy...the project and all. Did I tell you that they made me a leader on it? Oh...and there are people outside the school that will be helping with it. I've met some of them..." She didn't add that one of them was a cute guy that was standing right next to her.

[Oracle]

“oh that’s great, that’s great darling we’re so happy for you.” Her mother and father both smile as her father picks up the other receiver “we might come and see you in a while if that’s ok.”

Kari nodded, although they couldn't see that, of course. "Yeah, that would be all right. There is something weird going on on the campus...there is this creepy guy in a heavy wheelchair that might be stocking Lani and I."

Aragorn really wasn't listening to the conversation. Staring at the Dalek some more he said, "I wonder what you are and where you came from..." He took out his sonic screwdriver and aimed it at the Dalek, trying to see if he could get a reading of some sort.

This action drew Kari's attention. She asked Aragorn, "What are you doing? And what is that?"

Aragorn stared back at her. "You mean...you don't have these....it's...it's a sonic screwdriver."

Kari thought he was kidding and laughed into the phone. She was certain that her parents would be able to hear the whole conversation.

[Oracle]

“That’s not good darling you should probably go to the headmaster or something if you think someone is following you.” Kari’s mother looked at her husband concerned her father nods “…whos there with you kari?”

Kari responded, "Well, Lani and I went to the security center on campus and reported it. They're supposed to investigate it. It's probably nothing, really...it's just that he acted creepy...and his wheel chair seemed heavier than it should have been."

She paused a moment before glancing at Aragorn. "Oh, and a man named Greg is here with me -- he's one of the people who is helping with the project. He's in my group. He offered to escort me back to my building, just to be sure that I was safe."

She, of course, didn't know that Greg wasn't the man's real name. She only knew the little he had told her about himself.

Aragorn waited to see what the scan results would be on the object before him. (Davros, you can say what sort of detail you want them to discover -- as little or as much as you wish)

[Davros]

"Time lord!"yelled davros suddenly seeing the image of aragorn and his sonic probe on his screen,"He seems strangely familiar"he thought to himself.

He mused for a few moments and then pressed a button on his console"All daleks withdraw for strategy reconsideration" he announced.Every dalek on the campus suddenly heard the same message in their head,they turned as one and streamed into the narrow alleyway.

"I ob-ey!"The sculpture encountering aragorn intoned before turning its eye and joining the others as the eerie transmat glow filled the night air briefly.


Davros continued to think to himself,"Wait one moment,a time lord? encountering the doctor's mother socially?"he gasped as he realised the truth.How delightful,instead of ending the life of one of the doctor's parents he could have both!

He chuckled electronically at his good fortune.

(perhaps the species and the fact that they have travelled in time would be enough information)

Aragorn grunted in frustration, as the Dalek started moving away. Frowning, it took several moments before his sonic gave a readout of the information. "Origin: Skarro -- species mutated Kalad....and it said I obey...but who or what is it obeying?" He had already discerned that the creature could travel in time.

He frowned. This wasn't the species that they had heard about. Either it was a separate issue, or it was working together with those that they were to keep an eye on. He had spoken aloud, scaring Kari a bit.

She had turned at the sound of the Dalek's voice, and had seen the strange glow from it disappearing. "What.....what was that? What's going on?"

Aragorn looked back at her and shrugged, "I...I don't know...but I need to find out..."

[Oracle]

Kari's mother and father both sigh "ok just make sure you stay safe or your father and I will go postal, just call us more often to let us know you're ok and everything we love you, and we'll see you soon Kari." they say their goodbyes and hang up the phone

Kari sighed as her parents hung up the phone. She didn't get a chance to say goodbye to them. Looking to "Greg," she asked, "What's Skaro?"

Greg shifted uncomfortably. He didn't want to let her know that he wasn't human just yet. "It's...a place....don't worry about it."

Kari frowned. She could tell that he was hiding something from her. "Well, I should go inside now." Aragorn said nothing for a moment, a puzzled look on his face. He was thinking about the Kaled things. He'd never had an encounter with Skaro before, and why had this Kaled mutated?
