Tyler glanced from his brother to his wife and nodded. "Right, but someone must have an idea of what is going on here. I mean, really....but you're right, Doctor. There are fewer people out and around. I.....I don't know if anyone's going to feel comfortable talking to us....but there's got to be someone here, and older person perhaps who just likes to talk....."
He glanced around. Neither he nor his brother were really well liked on Gallifrey. There were still certain people who wouldn't talk to them.

"Well, nothing for it but a bit of eavesdropping. Let's just go over here and have a bit of a brunch. This seems a nice place!"
The Doctor led them to a small corner cafe with small tables set in a small sideyard. It had some customers already but as he settled down in one of the nearest chairs he noticed more than one person sitting alone with tense expressions.
Not exactly a cheery atmosphere but it might be what we wanted," he murmured.

Tyler nodded at his brother. "Sure.....looks as good as any."
He, too, glanced at the people eating in the cafe. Several of them gave dirty looks in their direction, pretending that Tyler and the Doctor were invisible. However, not every Time Lord knew all the other Time Lords. This was especially true of those in the lesser classes. _________________ Emmehudjidat looked around his office, waiting for an informer to show up and update him on the situation. He'd released several underlings to spy on the people recently. He didn't want the Doctor to find out what he was up to. He knew this meddlesome Time Lord well enough to know that he wouldn't approve of his plans or his way of thinking. Or rather, he guessed that the Doctor wouldn't like it.
Maybe he could finally kill the pathetic little Doctor.

The looks weren't lost on the Doctor. "Not a very friendly lot, are they?" he murmured then he flashed a smile at the man coming up to them to take their orders. He too looked tense, as if he was about to be jumped on from the shadows.
"Hello, er, may I have the pleasure of serving you today?" The man's eyes gave a quick dart from side to side.
"Well, let's see, do you happen to have any Boranian tea today? Oh, I see you have. Splendid! We'll have a pot of that and...let's see....what do you have by way of pastries? I seem to have developed a bit of a sweet tooth in my travels. And what will you have?" He turned to his friends but as he prattled on his perifial vision was taking in the action around him and epsecially on their waiter.
It seems his eyes couldn't keep from glancing back behind him, to inside the kitchen. The Doctor wished he could take a direct stare but he didn't take the risk. Better to appear as if nothing had aroused his suspicions. But wasn't that a movement he caught? Who -was- lurking back there? And why did they feel they had to hide?
He observed the other people sitting around as well. Usually a cafe in the late morning hours would have people reading their newspads, chatting with friends or simply rushing through a last cup before going off to an enagagement somewhere but these seemed to be glued to their seats. Sitting stiffly, watching.
Waiting?

Tyler glanced at his brother and then his wife. From the look on his brother's face, he could tell that he was suspicious as well. Something wasn't right, and he didn't like it.
He sent a quick telepathic message to the Doctor, "Right...maybe we should get out of here....something's not right...and we shouldn't linger here too long..... perhaps we could get more into the common folk. Or did you want to wait it out? I'd be all right with either option....what do you want to do about it?"
Tyler was starting to get somewhat nervous. The situation reminded him too much of when his father had been forced to regenerate along with the Librarian. Although Tyler had only been an infant when it had happened, he was able to remember quite a bit. He had been kidnapped and his father and his father's best friend had been threatened. They had had to look for Tyler. Tyler had no idea where his brother had been at the time. He was fairly certain that the Doctor hadn't been there. If his memory had been correct, the Doctor had been kidnapped as well, but he had been taken to another location. But then again, maybe his memory wasn't quite correct on the details.

'But then we'll never get to the bottom of this. I'd rather just cut to the chase.' The Doctor sent back. 'They do seem to be rather ill at ease though, don't they?'
He bent towards the uncomfortable waiter. "If you don't mind my asking, just why is everybody so tense? I do hope it's not the tea!"
The man's eyes widened. "If you don't know the answer to that I suggest you don't find out!" he tersely hissed back. "In fact it'll be safer if you don't! Just...go on your own way, back to the main city and your own pleasent life! We have enough trouble as it is!"
"Trouble? What trouble?"
"No," the waiter stepped back. "I'm terribly sorry but we're closing now. You'll have to come back...tomorrow!" With a quick bow he turrned and hastily walked back into the kitchen.
"Curioser and curioser." the Doctor muttered. "You know, I do believe a quick sneak to the back of this establishment would be helpful to our cause. Back in a moment!" he started to ease out of his chair but was immediately surrounded by three men. He recognized the uniform of the city guards. "Well well, more company."
"You're all to accompany us back to the main citadel," one intoned.
"We are? I don't recall getting an invitation to there. And we haven't had tea yet!" the Doctor complained. "Mind if we stop along the way?"

Tyler glanced at the Doctor and sent him a message, "Guess our investigation is over...huh....we'll soon find out who or what is going on from the very citadel itself."
One of the guards felt a tickle in the back of his neck. He glared at their soon new prisoners. "Hey, no telepathic communication."
Tyler glanced at Kyra, worried for her. "Do you have to take all of us? My wife...."
He secretly hoped that the guards would grant the Doctor's request for some tea.

(Well, were out to tea in order to hopefully eavesdrop or get some information from the common folk. Things didn't quite go well. The citadel guards have them under a sort of arrest.)

(we're waiting for Kyra to respond now and to react to the situation...they're getting escorted to the Citadel)

It happened again. Kyra snapped back into reality and saw that they were being escorted... by Citadel GUARDS! She tried to keep her calm and she looked to Tyler and the Doctor, worried terribly about their situation. What was going on? What had she missed?

Tyler looked over at his wife. "Something wrong?"
She looked extremely worried. Well, who wouldn't be worried. They had been arrested. However, Kyra looked as though something else might be bothering her. Glancing at the guards, he had an idea that they wouldn't be attending to the request that the Doctor had made about the tea.

Kyra looked to Tyler, so lost. She wanted these absent spells to stop. They were starting to give her a headache.
"Ty... What happened? Are we being detained? Why?" she asked frantically.

"Yes, that's a very good question...why are we being detained?" The Doctor asked the guard to his left as they were being led out of the shop. "We do have a right to know what charges are being brought up against us. And if it's not too much trouble I'd like each of them to be itemized."
"You'll get your answers when we get back to the citadel," the guard answered gruffly. "I'm just following orders. They tell me 'go bring someone here' and I do."
The Doctor nodded. "Simple job then. Nice and easy, march here, gather up some people, then march them over there. Make sure they don't escape. Ah, ever have any do that? Escape, I mean?"
"No," the guard sniffed. "Never have."
"Then I'm afraid we're going to spoil your record!" The Doctor snatched up a large pot of tea from the table he was passing, flung the contents into the guard's face and at the same time shoving one of the metal chairs into him to trip over. "Come on!" he shouted to his brother and Kyra. "Let's go!"
